Master Quality Tibetan Thangka
This Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava Mandala Tibetan Thangka painting, featuring a unique black and gold theme, holds a significant place in the history of Tibetan Buddhism. During the eighth century, Buddhism was first introduced to Tibet when King Trisong Detsen, undeterred by the interference of resentful mountain spirits, invited the Indian master Santaraksita to teach the sacred Dharma to the Tibetan people. Although their efforts faced challenges, they were not in vain. To overcome these obstacles, the King, showing remarkable resilience, invited Guru Padmasambhava, a realized master with control over physical reality, to tame the spirits of Tibet.
Guru Padmasambhava, a manifestation of Buddha Amitabha, is said to have been miraculously born from a lotus flower in Oddiyana, now part of Pakistan. Renowned for his extraordinary powers, particularly his ability to tame spirits, Guru Padmasambhava was invited by the King to Tibet. He confronted the local nature spirits in a mystical battle, ultimately emerging victorious and binding them by oath to safeguard the Dharma for eternity. Evidence of his accomplishments remains visible in the valleys and communities of Tibet, where he is affectionately called "Guru Padmasambhava," meaning "Precious Master."
A truly beautiful, inspirational and uplifting thangka which I will treasure. Thank you Mila
